BlueFinity International supplies leading-edge software development tools and consultancy services to the MultiValue database and Microsoft .NET developer communities.  This seminar is designed to meet the needs of those new to BlueFinity and those who are looking for an in-depth technical demonstration of the advanced functionality.  The morning will provide a high level overview of the BlueFinity product range followed by a detailed roadmap covering the latest enhancements and previewing things to come. In the afternoon, we’ll drill down deeper into mv.NET and take a comprehensive detailed look at many of the mv.NET technical nuggets and how-tos in areas which are probably not a developer's first port of call with the product.   With powerful case studies of actual mv.NET applications given by users of the product and an extensive question and answer session with BlueFinity architects, this seminar is sure to have something to offer everyone from those investigating BlueFinity technology to existing customers alike.

AGENDA & SCHEDULE
Sessions and continental breakfast will begin at 9:00am. We will provide lunch and an afternoon break, and expect to end at approximately 5:00pm.  Attendees are encouraged to join us after the seminar for refreshments at the hotel bar!

Welcome Address
BlueFinity International’s CEO, Pete Loveless, will welcome attendees to the seminar.

Introduction to the BlueFinity Product Range
A high level technical introduction to the benefits and rich feature-set of each of the BlueFinity products. Discussion will include both mv.NET, the Microsoft .NET development and deployment product for all the major MultiValue databases, and Reporting Services Data Connector (RSDC) for Microsoft Reporting Services solutions.  During this session, attendees will learn (through description and demonstration) how to: 

  • Access MV resident data and programs from within .NET applications using both ADO.NET compliant and native data access libraries
  • Maintain dictionary definitions and Edit/compile/catalog MV BASIC programs from within the Visual Studio environment
  • Build application interfaces quickly using advanced Data binding
  • Utilize Microsoft's Reporting Services product to generate advanced reports from MV data

.NET Development Tips and Techniques
This session will cover a range of development techniques using mv.NET.  This session is relevant to both rich-client and web application developers faced with the challenge of creating MultiValue database-linked business solutions.  Topics for discussion include: 

  • Using the mv.NET Extended Dictionary
  • Fine-tuning application performance
  • Debugging server-side code

BlueFinity have an exciting roadmap for the development of both additional features for their existing product range and the introduction of brand-new, innovative products. A chance to get the low-down on a variety of technical tips and insights for those developers charged with the task of linking MultiValue data in with Web applications.  Topics for discussion include:

  • Linking AJAX development with mv.NET
  • Maintaining database state within an application

mv.NET Case Study
Jim Walery,  Pipeline TRG

Technical Resource Group (TRG) is an information technology consulting firm specializing in the MultiValue marketplace.  TRG used mv.NET to provide one of its customers with a graphical user interface to a critical application.  TRG will explain why the customer wanted to “GUIize” their application, discuss why mv.NET was selected, give details about the project including the problems that occurred, and offer suggestions for a successful GUI project. 

Technical Session for Smart-Client Developers
Developing MultiValue linked applications has never been easier than with the BlueFinity product range.  This session covers the more advanced features and capabilities of mv.NET when used to develop smart (rich) client applications.  Topics for discussion include: 

  • The use of predefined queries
  • Fetch-on-demand data retrieval
  • Monitoring database events
  • Updating data using ADO.NET

The fee for the seminar is $250 and includes refreshment breaks and access to free evaluation copies of both mv.NET and RSDC.  Additional attendees from the same company can attend for $125 each.
